IDEA Services is adopting a new electronic system that will manage all aspects of medication in real-time. A proof of concept for the 1CHART medication management system proved successful in the Hutt Valley in late 2020 and IDEA Services is now moving to a nationwide rollout to all its residential houses.
Chief Operating Officer IDEA Services and Choices NZ, Joan Cowan says it’s exciting to be able to introduce a very welcome process to further enhance the already great work we do in services.
“In the past, we have tracked medication through a manual log or fax,” says Joan.
“We think that paper-based system is outdated and no longer fit-for-purpose, and we believe now is the perfect time to implement a new electronic system that will link prescribers, pharmacies and our Support Workers.
“It will allow Support Workers more time to engage with the people we support instead of taking up valuable time logging medication by pen and paper.”
