Consultation has now started for the National IDEA Services Review, and feedback will be open until Monday 24 August 2020. Our initial thinking outlines what we propose we could do to ensure our services are contemporary, affordable and meet the needs of people with intellectual disabilities and their families/whānau. This initial thinking would potentially have an impact on how IDEA Services’ residential services operate and are likely to have an impact on how we provide our day services.
We are seeking feedback from a range of people with intellectual disabilities and their families/whānau, IHC members, Associations and staff (including their union E tū) before any decisions are made.
Local areas will be providing opportunities for people to discuss this through local forums, and information on this will be provided in due course. Consultation will also include focus groups and other ways that the people we support can provide input. No decisions regarding next steps will be made until feedback has been reviewed by the IDEA Services Board after 24 August 2020.
Local area teams will be contacting families of people in our services in the next few days to update them and support them to be able to provide their thoughts and ideas in a way that best suits them. If you have any questions then you can contact your local management team in the first instance, or you can email us at considerthis@idea.org.nz.
